Avon Descent - paddle craft and power dinghies

The Multiplex Avon Descent is a time trial for power dinghies and paddle craft covering 133 kilometres of the Avon and Swan Rivers in Western Australia. The event begins in the Town of Northam, passes through Toodyay and the Avon Valley and Walyunga National Parks, and finishes at Riverside Gardens Reserve, Bayswater, Perth.

The Avon Descent was first held in 1973 with just 49 competitors, no rules, no officials, no checkpoints and very few spectators. In the 34 years since, over 25,000 people have competed in the Avon Descent; from novices and families, to World and Olympic Champions.  The Multiplex Avon Descent is a fantastic spectator event with many vantage points available for you to see all of the action and cheer on competitors - or get into training and take part in this exciting event!  The Avon Descent takes place in August, for more information visit www.avondescent.com.au.
