Tracks and Trails

This site has information on a number of trail experiences, including walking, cycling, paddling and snorkeling trails. Some trails are multi-use and some explore our heritage.

The Department of Environment and Conservation manages and maintains many of the tracks and trails throughout the State, some in partnership with ‘friends’ groups, local shires and other government departments. Many have visitor facilities, including picnic and barbecue areas, toilets, camping areas, trail markers and even shelters along the long-distance trails.

Track Conditions

Trail users heading out on any of the long-distance trails are requested to contact the local Department of Environment and Conservation offices (listed on the Useful numbers page) for current Track conditions. This is especially important if you are planning to walk in a group or are undertaking a long journey. Local Department staff have the most up-to-date information on Track conditions, which you may need to know about.

Before setting out on a trail be sure to check out the Trail Tips section of the site.
